KHONG GUAN BUSINESS TRIP.. its really cool coz we get to see the tin-loads of biscuits they manufacture using machines tt totally resembled roller coasters! though the factory exterior looks old n rundown, the interior is pretty awesome in terms of scale of production. however, the compound was dark n pretty dirty with all the workers (which is alot coz khong guan is labour-intensive) not wearing gloves when they handle day-to-day operations like packing of biscuits, filling the icing n mixing dough with shovels. ewwww!
th: aiyah, 500kg of dough leh.. even if mix abit of sweat n dirt will not hv impact de.
fascinating pt 1: the unbaked dough resembled an entire trough of cement..
fascinating pt 2: its cute to pretend to be a cookie n go "ahhhh!!" as u slowly get baked.
fascinating pt 3: rejected biscuits get sent to kelongs to feed fishes..
the baking wing with the huge chimneys for all the charcoal fumes!
the fuel used to power all the generators n massive ovens in the factory.
the old building with the fancy new mercedes parked outside..
really old factory hor?! dun even hv storeys, but with such a big compound, i dun tink they need floors also ba.. hmm, it is also evident tt the main mode of transport for staff is the bicycle..
a photo of the cookie baking process tt jess was not supposed to hv taken. =P
n they hv an entire toilet block!!
a khong guan delivery truck..
we chased n we finally caught up with the truck. haha.. VICTORY!
the v pretty company i had.. haha.
i'm muscle woman!! haha.. anyway, tis is the mango top tt edwin (xq's fren) said i looked pretty in. speaking of edwin, tis morn was damn funny.. coz both of us met at fc 6 at 7+ am, sorta recognised each other but wasn't entirely sure. so we ended up each smsing xq n not acknowledging the other party. zzz.
ppl looking really happy in the ahma-looking shower caps we had to wear before entering the factory. haha.. i'm not posting my own pic coz it looks gross. *sulks*
gosh, i wonder how some girls still find the mood to cam-whore.. =X
a candid shot tt made them all look like models.. see, 3 of them is tossing their hair at the same time wor.. haha.
gw bought me 2 pkts of tis plain-looking biscuits (choc & original).. they r known as army crackers for field camps aka 兵餅. they r apparently high in density n pack all the necessary nutrients making them the perfect weight-loss solution. though NS men obviously eat them out of convenience instead.
khong guan's top-selling biscuits!! nice nice. haha.. it is the freshest here as all stock comes straight frm the oven.
look at all the smiling faces.. another successful proj launched by spse! kudos to guowei!! *applause*
now, who said spse was only made up of nerds? i say we r gd-looking nerds. haha.
GROUP PHOTO!!! =D
4th august 2007
call me an idiot. coz i've fallen in love n i've fallen hard.
in a phonecall two nights ago, X mentioned abt only having tasted the 'orange white chocolate'-flavoured donut factory doughnut.. like how is tt possible considering the hype of those ring-like things in s'pore??!!
hence, i decided to engage in the typical singaporean past-time, queue, to surprise him aft wrk. for the first time i stood alone in line at the raffles city shopping centre basement like an aunty trying hard to control my bladder yet be fiercely protective against ppl who cut my line. but one accomplishment is i did manage to get one topic of BFI embedded into my brain during tt 1.5hrs of standing.. anyway, aft abt an hr, X came down aft his training to stand in line while i went to relief myself. lol.
the doughnuts for the boy.
buying only 6 pieces didn't really justify the long waiting time but X seemed happy so i was happy. we then went to the cathay to buy tickets for the sneak preview of jay chou's directing debut, secret. although tis show was a full-house screening, X managed to get last row couple seats for the both of us!!
as there was quite abit of time before the start of the movie, we went to plaza sing for lunch n to shop for my ltc necessities. though i didn't manage to get wat i intended to buy, X bought a 7-men tent which was on offer. haha.. so random.
my cheezy hotdog linguine.. its really spicy n the only nice thing was the cute sausages which X tot was fishballs. tt blur sotong.. wahahaha. (i tink he was kidding ba..) =P
X's baked rice n creamy soup - my minestrone tastes better!! heee.
my new wacky family!! wahahaha!
soon, it was time for the movie which was lovely n coz i'm such a blabbermouth, i'm gonna spoil the ending for all of u. na nanny poo poo~
- the 'secret' is a music script tt lets the pianist to travel through time. hence, the male n female leads lives life 20 yrs apart.
- in the end, jay travelled back in time (for gd!) juz to be with rain forever..
anyway, i tink sky is prettier than rain. lol. but as usual, the cathay cineplex is really cold so it was nice to hv X barely 5 cm away frm me. the show lasted approx only 100 mins but tis 100 mins would prob stay with me for a long long time.
aft the movie, we headed to esplanade coz i was confident tt there wld be a fireworks display. but sadly, X was right in saying tt rehearsals do not hv fireworks. =(
it was on tis grassy open patch tt the new tent came in handy as a picnic mat.. siting on the ground, facing the s'pore river/financial district n having frozen donuts, with X for company was so dream-like tt it made me teary. i wanted to post the pic of him smiling with the 'white strawberry heart' doughnut but i tink he wld v much prefer to remain annoymous.
look at the crowd!! all tis ppl expected fireworks only to be disappointed. well, at least there is still the national day display.. *hopeful*
the garbage!
X: tis is the esplanade. even rubbish is considered art.
aft waiting for the non-existant fireworks, we cabbed down to east coast park where i was lame enough to suggest pitching the tent in darkness. it was pretty easy considering our only source of light came frm X's hp.
tis is the tent in the morn.. coz all the night shots were blurry. hey, its the wind tt was strong n not us having no skill k?!
the breath-taking view in front of our $19.90 beachfront hm.. ahhhh, all those ppl who spend millions on marina bay housing projs muz be kicking themselves now.. =)
as all gd things hv to come to an end, the packing up was upsetting.. =(
breakfast was at bedok hawker centre with the famous chwee kueh n my fav soya milk!
our footprints side-by-side in the sand. juz like me waking up frm my dream n being thrust back into a cold reality, tis prints will get washed away by the tide n become a blank slate once more. nothing is forever, esp fairytales.
still, i was a princess for 21 hrs. for tt, i'm contented.
happily ever after? HAHAHAHAHA!
